The eTwinning project “Once Upon a Time” was an international collaboration that connected our 3rd grade students at İstek Atanur Oğuz Primary School  with students and teachers from Türkiye, Greece, Romania, Kosovo, and Spain. The project used the theme of fairy tales to engage students in creative, meaningful, and collaborative learning experiences while developing their English language skills, digital literacy, communication, creativity, and intercultural awareness.

Throughout the project, students explored both traditional and modern fairy tales and used them as inspiration to create their own stories, characters, and artistic works. They participated in a variety of engaging activities such as designing a project logo, creating fairy tale passports, and writing short texts about fairy tales from their own cultures. Students also contributed to collaborative international products including digital booklets, interactive fairy tale maps, New Year greeting cards, and virtual exhibitions.

A strong emphasis was placed on collaboration and interaction between partner schools. Students worked in mixed international teams, exchanged ideas, gave feedback, and participated in online meetings where they introduced themselves and communicated with peers from other countries. These interactions helped them build friendships, develop confidence in using English, and experience real intercultural communication.

By combining storytelling, creativity, and technology, the project provided students with engaging and authentic learning experiences. It encouraged teamwork, active participation, and responsible use of digital tools, while helping students become more open-minded, confident, and globally aware learners.
